Question
I have a 20 year old son that for the past six years has had frequent vomiting.  He has an episode probably once every two months.  This vomiting usually occurs between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. in the morning and usually he is tired the rest of the day but able to eat after about five hours.  I read some information on chronic vomiting syndrome and wondered if there was any homeopathic treatments if this is what he even has.

Answer
Hello Ruth,
Thanks for your question.  It is likely that your son would benefit from seeing a naturopathic physician (www.naturopathic.org) or a homeopath (www.homeopathy.org or www.homeopathic.org).  This practitioner would help him treat the cause of the disorder using a natural treatment regime.  Many naturopathic physicians use homeopathy as well as other treatments, while homeopaths use those alone.  This type of approach is very successful in addressing functional GI issues such as you describe, regardless of whether there is a diagnosis from a conventional MD or not.  Since the treatment is individualized for each person, I couldn't tell you which homeopathic or other treatment would be appropriate.  A typical visit with a ND or homeopath would be 1-3 hours, and involve a complete health history & assessment.  I would strongly suggest this for your son, to provide the best results.
