Alternative Medicine/Hyperydrosis?

Question
This kind of diagnostic question may not be what you are usually asked, but I
see that you have knowledge of Hyperhydrosis, so I was encouraged to write
to you.  I am 61 years old, and my menopausal symptoms seemed to stop for
the most part sometime within the last eight years or so.  Recently, I have
begun to have excessive scalp sweating.  It feels much like the hot flashes I
had years ago, but is it common for menopausal symptoms to re-emerge
after an asymptomatic period?  Trying to find answers, I came across
information for Hyperhydrosis, and the "facial sweating" type seems to be
what I could have, since it often involves the scalp.  I am seeing an
acupuncturist, and he has treated me for the problem as it might relate to
hormonal causes.  That did not have an effect, so I plan to ask him to treat
me for Hyperhydrosis.  Is there a way to determine the cause of my scalp
problem?

Answer
Hi Donna,
I do not know of a lab test that would help determine the cause of the hyperhydrosis. If you think it may be hormnonal/menopausal then you could try blach cohosh. This herb helps relieve menopausal symptoms. If it helps then your suspicion is right.
Thank you for using Allrxperts
