Question
I take care of my mom. She had a hip surgery after falling and fracturing her hip. Her hip is totally healed the doctor said. But It has been three months after surgery...the doctor said she may take off her T.E.D. hose after the swelling has gone! But, she wants to lay around in her bed all day, except during physical therapy 3 days a week. So, would it be a good idea for her to keep wearing her T.E.D. hose? Please help :-(

Answer
Hi Brenda,
TED stocking will help the circulation if your mother is not as mobile as she should be. Stating in bed most of the time also puts her at risk for developing a clot that could cause a stroke or lodge in the lungs. Encourage her to mobilize explaining these risks to her.
Thank you for using Allexperts
