Alternative Medicine/Lipoma

Question
Hi, Dr.Alban.  I noticed that you had a recent inquiry about lipoma treatment.  I am curious to know if there was any conclusion.  I have a noticeable lipoma on my upper arm and it is growing over time.  I would like to have it removed, but wonder if acupuncture is an option.  Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hello Alisa,

Thanks for your question.

As you may have read in my previous response, Chinese medicine works by correcting imbalances in the body.  Once the balance is correct, the body works to heal itself.  That is why Chinese medicine works for conditions that Western medicine cannot treat.  We work with the body's natural healing process.

As I said in my previous answer, while I have experience with many types of difficult and stubborn conditions, I have never personally treated lipomas. Depending on how large they are, and prominent, effect how well treatment would work.  The goals is to slow and stop the growth, and then to work on reducing them.  Treatment is based upon the imbalance that is causing their growth.

It is impossible for me to tell you about your specific condition without seeing you first.  I recommend you find an acupuncturist in your area and ask for a consultation.

You can find an acupuncturist in your area through nccaom.org or acufinder.com.  If you are in the New York City area, you can contact me at 917-887-4946.

Take care,

Joseph
