Question
I have just started taking ignatia and have heard rumours that it can stop the contraceptive pill from working and as i am also taking the pill i was wondering whether this was true.

Answer
Hello Victoria,
Thanks for your question.  I am assuming you are taking homeopathic Ignatia, as the herb is uncommon.  There is no known interaction between birth control and this remedy.  Ignatia in a homeopathic dose (12 C, 30C, 200 C, 1 M) has no chemically-active substances in it, so therefore cannot interact with medications, herbs, or supplements.  In lower dosages (6X, 12X, 6C) there is a theoretical interaction possible.  Usually, it is such a small amount it will have no interaction, but if you want to be as safe as possible, make sure you are taking a homeopathic dosage of the remedy.
In health,
