Question I've been diagnosed with staph infection. I had this for 5 months before I went to Dr. That was 2 months ago. 2 different antibiotics have not healed. Also using antibacterial cream and peroxide. Nothing seens to help. I've taken vitamins and nutrients for years and thought I was pretty healty. I am a woman. age 72. Do you have any alternative suggestions?
Answer Hi Anita,
Thank you for your question.
Chronic staph infections are treatable with Chinese herbs. Acupuncture would probably not be as effective.
Chinese medicine focuses on treating the imbalance in the body that is causing your condition. Once the imbalance is corrected, the body works to heal itself.
I cannot specifically say what it is caused by without seeing you. I would recommend you find a Chinese medicine doctor or acupuncturist in your area who can recommend some herbs for you.
Chinese medicine approach would focus on 2 aspects. Boosting your own immune system to address the infection. Also, herbs have very strong properties at fighting chronic infections. Unlike antibioic, herbs may work because it is a combination of herbs, that all fight a different part of the infection.
Often, infections are what is described as "heat" in TCM, because the redness and swelling. Generally, the herbs used for the infection clear heat.
All the best,
Joseph
