Question Hi my name is anika patel and im 17 yrs old. i have polycystic ovarian syndrome..was diagnosed two years ago..since then i have been on various contraceptive pills..ie dianette and femodette.
I just want to know if there is an alternative medicine to make my periods regular again..as some of my relatives were saying i should look into this
Answer Hello Anika,
Thank you for your question. I will say that polycystic ovarian syndrome is a complicated condition to treat. Acupuncturists do have a variety of treatment modalities that I do believe would be of benefit. Acupuncture alone however I don't believe would be sufficient to normalize your periods. There are several formulas that could be use in concert with the acupuncture treatments. Unfortunately, given the nature of formulas and they being designed for each individual, I can not say specifically which formulas would benefit you best. Also there are many different combinations of formulas that exists. I would encourage you to make an appointment with an acupuncturist who has a strong foundation in herbal medicines as well. He or she would be able to diagnose your condition more thoroughly and provide recommendations for a plan of treatment. I would also encourage you to be patient. Getting to a point of sustained change can take several months when treating your condition. I hope you have found this information helpful. Please feel free to let me know if you have further questions. I do wish you well.
