Alternative Medicine/How to lighten the Iris

Question
Hi Kristina
apparently, putting a bit of honey in the eyes lightens the iris because of the natural peroxide in it. I looked around on Internet forums and many people are saying it works. However, I have dark brown eyes, and I want a lighter shade, so I have tried this for 3 days or so and not much has occurred. Is it safe? Or will it lighten my eyes in the slightest?

Answer
Hello Ryan,
It's might be safe as long as the honey is not contaminated, but there's no clear reason why it would be effective.  The eye's pretty resistant against penetration with substances and even if it did get in there it's unlikely to change the color of the iris.  Genetics and some pathologies seem to determine that.  There doesn't seem to be anything reliable (that's natural) to change it otherwise.
