Question
Hi,

I was wondering if you can suggest any herbs/alternative medicine that would be helpfull for overactive nerves in the GIT?  Also, is there a medical name for this condition, or would it just be called "overactive nerves?"  Thanks,

Evan

Answer
Hi Evan

There really just isn't enough information in your note to give a good answer to your question. To be really effective, an alternative medicine professional would get an overall background including all medical conditions, allergies, stresses, mental / emotional concerns, spirituality etc...I suggest seeing someone in person rather than over the internet.

As a GENERAL rule, safe things to soothe any nervous condition include chamomile tea ( available in most grocery stores), a cup at bedtime or Lavendar essential oil (the real stuff, not just commercial lavender scent) diffused in a room, in an oil or lotion base for overall application (arms and legs should do it). Or if you don't care for the scent of lavendar, Neroli can be substituted. Put 15 to 20 drops of the oil in bath OR in 1 oz of a carrier lotion (shea butter lotion, grape seed oil, etc) and apply to arms and legs daily.

Good luck
