Alternative Medicine/Can Chinese medicine cure chest infection?

Question
QUESTION: After walking under the rain two years ago, my mother began to develop the chest infection. The most notable symptom is she coughs a lot.

2 years have passed. When her condition becomes worse, we brought her to hospitals. However, the medicine seems to take very long to be effective, sometimes up to 1 month. And then the symptoms will come back.

Could you pls tell me if chronic chest infection can be cured by Chinese medicine?

ANSWER: I don't know much about Chinese medicine . I know that homepathic is very helpful but I couldn't tell you which formulas. You can see if you can find lobelia extract That is a mucus mover and try to get her off dairy for a while and see if that helps. If is is an infection I would find a echinacea/golden seal formula and a garlic formula.  That will kil the infection. I would take 4-6 caupsule of each a day. Jayne

QUESTION: Thank you for your advice. I would like to ask one thing.

You said "getting her off dairy". Does it mean she should not drink milk? Could you pls let me know the reason why?

Answer
Milk and dairy can be very mucus forming for some people.  Milk is made for cows that have a larger digestive system than we do. You can substitute with almond or rice milk. Yogurt is less harmful because is is predigested with the bacteria they add.  Jayne
