Alternative Medicine/Kidney Stones

Question
I hve had 3 bouts with kidney stones.  Help!  Can't stand anymore!  What supplement can I take to prevent these from forming again?  I almost took one called, Stone Free, but noticed it had licorice root, among other things, and I think that would raise my blood pressure.  Am scared to take that supplement, although I was assured it does work.  Please help -- I am so confused and so scared I may pass another stone.

Answer
Hi Judy - So sorry to hear what you are going through.  I know it is a painful and scary ordeal.

It is also a very complex issue.   It is hard to know what to recommend because I don't know what you are doing at this time?   For instance, how much calcium and what kind of calcium are you taking right now (through food, through supplements and when you are taking them).  What is your diet like?  Are you drinking enough water?   Are there medications you are taking that could be contributing to them?

Here are two articles I found that may be helpful for you.  If you would like to contact me further, drop me a line at suzanne@empoweringserenity.com

I am not familiar with the product you spoke of so I can't advise on that; but if you have blood pressure issues, it is best not to take it and make matters even more complex.

Please let me know how you are doing.

Warmly,
