Alternative Medicine/inhaling iodine in the ocean breezes

Question
Doctor, can one receive all the necessary iodine rquirements for a healthy thyroid just by breathing the air of the ocean. Is iodine absorbed by the thyroid in this manner? If someone lives right near the beach (Atlantic Ocean), can someone still have an iodine deficiency?
Also curious to know if the opposite can occur. When one lives near the ocean and breathes the air, can too much iodine be absorbed by the thyroid?
Thanks!
Alex
