Question
I'm currently on Wellbutrin XL, elavil, and zyprexa. The first is for depression and the latter two are for sleeping. I'm interested in discontinuing the use of zyprexa (for economic as well as increased seizure reasons) and possibly the elavil as well. I have tried sleeping just with one sleep medication by itself, but separately I still have great difficulty sleeping (sometimes both getting to and staying asleep). Is ambesleep safe to use if I still use Wellbutrin XL? Do I need to wean myself off either of my current sleep aids? Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi Scott,
Ambesleep contains valerian root which is similar to benzodiazepine in its action. I would not take it in combination with the other sleeping pills. I do not think it is anywhere as potent as the other two meds you are taking for sleep.
Thank you for using Allexperts
Sincerely,
