Alternative Medicine/vitamins and supplements
Expert: Suzanne Rose Lubkowski - 8/10/2011
QuestionHi, I have a sister with myofascial pain and I did some research on treating this condition with vitamins. I have a list of them but I am concerned that they may be dangerous combined or that one vitamin may react to another and hinder it's effectiveness. Here are the following vitamins and supplements.
multi vitamins
B-complex
msm
glucosamin sulphate
magnesium
calcium w/ vitamin d
potassium
vitamin e
super gla/dha
Thank you,
Lynnsie
AnswerHi Lynnsie
You have done some good research and supporting the cell structure of the body is the way to rebuild it. I would like to make a couple recommendations.
You didn't say where you plan on getting the supplements from. All vitamins and supplements are not alike. The supplement has to break down in the body to get to the cell. Most vitamins are synthetic and pass through the body and don't do a thing. They find whole vitamins (and they can even read the name brand on them in the latrines).
My family and I have been using Shaklee for almost 20 years because of the peer reviewed science, the ingredients and they work. Dr. Shaklee's philosophy was to not put anything into the body that would hurt a living cell.
The only supplement that Shaklee doesn't carry from your list is MSM. I have heard mixed reviews on that. Shaklee won't make a supplement if there is any controversy on it that it could be taken off the market later. If the research doesn't support it, they don't offer it.
Having said all this, I encourage you to visit www.integrativewellness.myshaklee.com. There is a whole lot of info on the supplements right on each page. There is also info on the philosophy of the company and its history. I know it sounds like I am pushing Shaklee but there is only one other supplement I use in addition to Shaklee which I would also recommend which Shaklee doesn't carry. It is called chorella which is a pure micro algae.
I see no program with the combination of these supplements except perhaps the msm which I am not as familiar with. From your research if you feel that is a critical nutrient, we can look at that closer.
I would also recommend you add a protein powder. Protein is the building block of the cells foundation.
If you would like to look at this closer, please email me at suzanne@empoweringserenity.com and I can help you build a program for her. I also will see if I can get you some testimonials on using the Shaklee supplements with the myofascial pain. I remember seeing some come through at some point.
I hope I can be of support. I would love to work with you on a closer basis to help your sister. Many blessings Suzanne
