Alternative Medicine/Seizures and Vitamins

Question
Eric;
I have epilepsy from a skull fracture 10 years ago--I am 47 yrs old. I take 300mg of dilantin daily, but occasionally have a seizure from time to time, if my levels get too low. I have now had two in two months... all near my cycle and in my sleep. After a seizure I feel like I am so spacey... I am moody, anxious, and easily over-stimulated... I normally take a multi-vitamin with a B, E and D vitamin. My memory is terrible and I get easily depressed... anything else I can take to help my memory and over-all well being. Oh, and I do run 3 miles about 4 times a week.

Answer
Hi Trisha,
Ginkgo biloba is a herb that has shown some promise in improving or preventing memory loss. It has some blood thinning effects and can cause bleeding. Please ask you neurologist if it would be safe for you to try.
Thank you for using Allexperts
Sincerely,
