Alternative Medicine/Tmg( betaine)

Hi... I've been taking  tmg as prescribed by my nutritionist for many years. I'm currently 10 weeks pregnant. My nutritionist says its fine to continue taking..., but I read conflicting things. Can you offer any insight? I read it causes miscarriage. Thank you

Hi Linda

Take my congratulation with pregnancy.

Betaine is supplement that is used to increase stomach acid. I think that your nutritionist is done already a good job and your stomach acid is OK now. Betaine is not life important supplement; therefore, you can stop taking it. I recommend to my pregnant women to take prenatal vitamins, fish oil, B-12 and folic acid, probiotics.

Have a healthy baby.
