Alternative Medicine/6 year old girl with crohn's

Question
My granddaughter has recently been diagnosed with crohn's disease. She has been put on steroids and has just had a flare up and the steroids have been increaed. Is there any alternative to the use of steroids? Her face has gotten estremely puffy and she has had to see an eye doctor ang got glasses. I know the steroids are very damaging. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
What kind of diet has she been on. Was she breastfed or bottle fed. Is shw on diary products. Is her Mother willing to treat her with alternatives. There are some good book s on alternative for Chrohns Look for them and change her diet. Herbs are slippery elm, antioxidants like pine bark extract, aloe juice. there are several I suggest you see a naturopathic doctor and get some good reading materal. Ask her mom what she is willing to do for her. She's too young to have such a problem. you can help her though with alternatives. Jayne
