Question
Could you recommend a natural treatment for chronic Blepharitis?
I heard about bicarbonate soda in water( 1/2 teaspoon of bicarbonate in half glass of water ) and apply to eyelids cure the problem.

Answer
Hello Min
Thanks for your question.  There are some herbs that can be used for eye irritation, such as calendula, eyebright, oregon grape, and comfrey.  These can be made into a tea then mixed with saline and used as a compress, eye drops, or eye wash.  You may be able to find a mixture of one or more of these herbs in a pre-prepared form, as well.  This is not a cure per say, but more for managing symptoms and preventing complications from chronic irritation.  For more lasting relief, it would be necessary to know the reason behind the development of the condition.  Often chronic irritation can be from an environmental allergan or toxic exposure.  If that is found, removing the cause would provide relief; without that, herbs or other supplements may help, but might not get to the root of the problem.
