Alternative Medicine/Calcium deposits
Expert: Imran R. - 6/5/2007
QuestionI read your response to a similar question involving a big toe. Per my x-rays, both big toe joints are surrounded with calcium deposits, so much so that the joints are almost unable to flex and now, at the age of 53, are causing problems with my gait and ensuing knee problems as a result. There is very little pain involved. Should I perhaps be soaking these joints in apple cider vinegar instead of just putting cider-soaked brown paper on them? Then should I be manipulating the joints to help loosen them and bust up the calcium. Thank you.
AnswerDear Janice,
Thank you for writing. Your letter has taken quite a while to get to me, sorry for the delay.
In your case i would recommend the brown paper method rather than soaking. Do not manipulate the joints however, let the dissolution take place naturally and at a slower rate in order to avoid the production of pain and inflammation.
It is very important to take a good nutritional supplement on a daily basis. I have read reports that this product has actually helped speed the healing of conditions like yours:

Take 2 ounces per day.
If you are taking any calcium supplements---please avoid all carbonate calcium products. Citrate is far better. You would also do well taking magnesium citrate in higher doses than the calcium.
Best wishes,
