Alternative Medicine/Cyclical Vomiting

QuestionKindred:
I am one of the experts on this site as well, in the Legal Advice category.
Anyway, here's my situation:
My wife gets these attacks about once per month, once every two months. She gets extreme nausea and vomiting for a few hours, and becomes bedridden. After a few hours, she is relatively ok, and can continue her day, with just minor stomach pain.
She has had every test we can think of. She had a GI series, a colonoscopy, has seen a neurologist, and a rheumatologist. (She has a positive ANA test, which may indicate some sort of auto-immune disorder). All these tests have revealed nothing.
Now, she still suffers from these attacks, but modern medicine is out of answers. We're ready to consider alternative therapies. I have briefly spoken to a naturalist who has his own mission (not entirely sure what that means) in LA, but he has a closed practice. Any advice you can give us would be greatly appreciated. I should mention that she is on birth control pills and is a fairly heavy marijuana smoker.
Thanks very much in advance.
AnswerDear Edward,
Since your wife is on the pill, have you or she noticed any correlation between these attacks of vomiting and her menstrual cycle? That would be my first consideration. Since she also has an indication of a possible auto-immune issue, I would at least suggest the possibility of some part of the endocrine system having some sort of reaction. I am going to pray about this and do some research, but I wanted to get back to you right away. I was under the impression that marijuana smoking helped curb nausea in most cases, although I am not advising that. Pantothenic acid supplement, B5 Vitamin is often helpful in matters pertaining to hormones and have her try some mint tea if there is any warning to the episode at all.
I will get back in touch with you.
Kind Regards,
Kindred
