Alternative Medicine/Hep C and beta blockers
Expert: Tonja Wells - 11/9/2006
QuestionMy mother has Hep C and severe cirrohsis of the liver. They are wanting her to take non selective beta blockers for her varices. She also has an underactive thyroid which the doctors keep telling her that she need a stronger thyroid medication, but she was put on a low dosage and it worked great for her. I am concerned about her letting the doctors play wishy washy with her medications. She can't take Vitamin E due to her liver condition, she wants to stay on her lower thyroid dosage pill, and the beta blockers they put her on make her extremely sleepy. She sleeps practically all the time. Plus, we have just discovered that she has an overactive bladder... she pees all the time. I would like to know if there is an herbal alternative to the beta blocker (treatment for the varices) as she doesn't have high blood pressure. Also, is there an herbal treatment for her bladder problem? Keeping in mind that she has Hep C and severe cirrohsis of the liver... anything at all she can take? She is of course Female, A+ blood type, height of 5' 5", weight close to 300 lbs, no energy, doesn't really sleep well through the night (probably because she sleeps all day), extremely gassy, has fibromyalsia, and I think that is all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
AnswerHello,
Because your mother is on so many medications I would highly suggest working with someone in person as each medication needs to be looked at to see what can be used to help balance your mothers health. This would take a complete client consult and complete histry from the health care professional.
There are things she can do:.
I would begin with making sure she is drinking plenty of pure water and working with her blood type diet. I would cut out all refined sugars and transfats.
I would cut out sodas and caffeine and eat plenty of raw or lightly steamed vegetables.
I would begin with the basics like colloidal minerals and enzymes.
I would find someone to work with in person as it sounds like your mother really does need a personal touch.
