Question
Drug-Herb Interactions can be researched easily. Just curious if any of the (multiple) herbs I'm taking cause reactions with one another.

MSM
NAC
St. Johns Wort
Acidophilus
Biotin
Chromium Picolinate (500 mg)
Psyllium Seed Husk
Borage Oil
Zinc
Lutien
Bilberry
Multi-Vitamin (sometimes)
(all from GNC)

Thanks for your time,
Nicole

Answer
Nicole,
It is good that you are concerned about the safety of nutrients as well as medications.  As far as I know, there are no interactions between these herbs and supplements.  But there are optimal times to take some of them, so I would pay attention to that.  For instance, acidophilus is best taken 20 minutes before meals. Most of the others should be taken with meals.  St John's Wort can be taken anytime.
You should also be concerned with the quality of the supplements you take.  Often, when people are taking multiple supplements as you are, they may choose lower quality products to minimize the cost.  GNC does carry some good brands, but you do need to be savvy in choosing supplements.  Look for reputable brands and absorable forms.  These may often cost a bit more, but are worth it, to get the effects you are looking for.  The investment in your health is worth it.
In good health,
