The Mind

The mind is a wondrous instrument. It functions much like a computer which we program to perform various tasks. It also acts like a tape recorder in that it records and plays back to us all that we experience. It helps us to automate our tasks, like washing the dishes, remembering our name, tying our shoes, and balancing our checkbook. It is a wonderful servant. However, this wonderful servant often becomes, to many of us, a horrible master. What was intended to be a helpful tool, has become our greatest nemesis in many ways -- causing us worry, fear, anger, anxiety, sickness, poverty and all the myriad sufferings that many of us tend to blame on causes "out there" -- in someone or something outside of ourselves. But in reality, these problems are nowhere to be found but in our own minds. When we quiet our mind, we realize that what seemed to be insurmountable problems become nothing -- a complete non-issue. We then find only solutions.

What is the Mind?

The mind is simply the sum total composite of all thoughts.

The subconscious mind is merely the thoughts that we are not looking at now.

The subconscious mind is running us -- making us the victims of habit.

The thing that keeps us from recognizing and expressing our infinity is simply the mind, conscious and subconscious. If we are to express this infinite nature, we can do it only by getting behind this mind. When we reach the realm behind the mind, we operate without thoughts, intuitively, and are in harmony with the whole universe.

The direction is to still the mind. Quiet the mind and you'll see your infinity right there.

Just let go of the mind completely and what's left over is your infinite beingness, all knowing, all powerful, everywhere present.

Were we to direct all our energies to stilling our mind, we would soon be realized.

The more you quiet the mind, the more you feel the Self -- and the better you feel. You feel as good as your mind is quiet.

When the mind vanishes, there the Self is. Where the Self is, there is no mind.

A thought is an assumption of lack causing a wish to fulfill it.

All thoughts are of non-truth. It's so simple. You just stop the thoughts and the infinity that you are is self-obvious.

You've got to use the mind to quiet the mind. You need to use determination to do it.

The mind will never discover the Self because the mind is the cover-up over the Self. It's only by letting go of the mind that the Self is seen. You get the mind quiet enough to allow your Self to be obvious to you so that you may use It to let go of the mind.

Thoughts smother the capacity to be happy.

Thought and desire are the same.

How to quiet the mind:

How do you do it? It's simple. Releasing— letting go of the conscious and subconscious negative thoughts and feelings instead of suppressing or expressing them. Letting go of our stressful emotions is a natural ability that we all have, but seldom, if ever use. Imagine how good your life will be as you start using this ability to instantly dissolve even long-standing problems.

Here's a simple exercise to get you started:

Grab a pen or pencil or something that won't break if you drop it.

Clutch it in your fist as tight as you can and hold it next to your stomach (solar plexus) area.

Hold onto it tightly until it becomes rather uncomfortable.

Now extend your arm out in front of you with your palm down and allow yourself to simply relax your hand and let your hand open. As you do this, the pen or pencil will drop naturally to the floor without any effort at all.

The more you quiet the mind,
the more you feel the Self. You are
as happy as the mind is quiet.

How to Quiet the Mind (part 2)

Here's something you should know about yourself—in case you haven't already realized this...

You are an
"Approval Machine!"

Did you ever notice that those times in life when you felt the happiest, were the times when you were feeling the most approving and accepting of yourself and others?

Do you realize what this means!?
This is wonderful news!

By fully grasping this one single concept, you can totally transform your life from one of lack and limitation to one of complete freedom, joy and abundance!

Approval is literally the best stuff on earth—and an unlimited supply of this precious commodity has been sitting right under your very nose all along.

You are literally an "Approval Machine" with an unlimited capacity to approve of yourself and others, which means you have an unlimited capacity to feel the greatest happiness at any time—without depending on anyone else to "make you happy." This one true source of happiness is inexhaustible—because the source is you—your very own basic nature. And, it is EASY to tap this source any time you choose.

Not convinced?

Then try this simple exercise:

Step 1. Disapprove of yourself right now. I mean, really beat yourself up. Think of some situation in your life where you've been disapproving of yourself. Be very hard on yourself—for something that you feel you didn't do right, wished you had done differently, or simply wish you had or had not done. Do this now—just for minute or two.

Okay, had enough? Now notice: How do you feel on a scale of 1 to 10 when disapproving of yourself—with 1 being the worst and 10 being pure bliss? Write that number down.

Step 2 . Now, let go of the disapproval—simply drop it, just as you were taught to do with the pencil in the last newsletter. Just let it go—more... and more... and even more. Keep going until you've let the disapproval go as best you can.

Step 3. When you've dumped the disapproval then give yourself approval (just like yourself a little bit) for no reason at all—just because you woke up this morning and you weren't "six feet under."

Okay? Now give yourself more approval, and even more, and even more. When you don't think you can take anymore self-approval, then let go of some more of the disapproval and approve of yourself EVEN MORE. Approve of every thought and feeling. Approve of the doubts, the fears, the judgements, the insecurities. Approve of your appearance, your finances, your memories, your behaviors, and your problems. Notice that what is not approval will dissolve, and that what is approval will only increase.

Have you filled yourself up with approval? Great! Now rate yourself again on that scale of 1 to 10 and Write that number down.

Compare those two numbers. Do you see?
The source of happiness is always within you.

No one can ever make any of us happy or unhappy. We own the control knob and no one else. In much the same way, our degree of health, abundance and energy is entirely up to us.

Even if all the six billion+ people in this world loved you, you would still be unhappy if you did not feel love. And, vice versa—even if the six billion+ people in this world hated your guts, you would still be happy if you felt love.

What an amazing thing. We are not at the mercy of anyone, as we may have previously thought.
