Question
Do you know anything about Cardio Renew ? It is Oral Chelation for the arteries. I have mild clogging and I was thinking this would be a good product to unclog. It sounds really good. Or do you know any product that unclogs arteries. Thanks for any help.

Answer
Hello Marg
Thanks for writing.  I do not know that particular product.  Some products may not contain actual chelating agents, but rather nutrients/ minerals, etc to help the body detoxify.  If it is true oral chelation it will contain either the chemical EDTA or DMSA. Since it depletes other minerals than heavy metals, chelation is often done on a on-off pattern, with supplemental minerals given.  Either chelating agent can cause kidney or liver damage, which should be monitored during chelation.  Other methods to improve detoxification, such as diet, exercise, supplements, are often used to improve the chelation and prevent side effects.  This is especially important because some metals take time to clear from the body.

Whether chelation works for atherosclerosis is still up for debate.  Many people claim it works, but it is not a treatment without risks.   In my opinion, chelation should not be done without the supervision of an experienced natural doctor.  It's a complicated process with potentially harmful effects.  If you do choose to undertake this without a practitioner, make sure you talk to your family doctor about it.  He/she may not agree with you, or know how to complete the process, but at least can monitor for side effects.

For atherosclerosis, there's many natural options that may be right for you.  Appropriate exercise and rest, a Mediterrean-type diet (high in fruits, veggies, whole grains, legumes, olive oil, fish), and supplements like fish oil, multivitamin/mineral, and fiber are the best places to start.  Stress can play a huge role in cardiovascular disease, as well.  I encourage you to investigate these areas, regardless of whether you undergo the chelation.  Lifestyle changes do much more for improving overall quality of life than any single supplement or drug can do.  It's really the only lasting way to stay healthy.
Good luck in your search for options
