Alternative Medicine/Oscilloseconium

Question
I'm not sure if I'm spelling the substance correctly, but I am wondering if you have any experiences with it.  It's (I think) related to homeopathy.  I have used it for early treatment of viral infections, and I actually think it works.  I'm wondering if you have any similar anecdotal or even scientific evidence of its efficacy.  I'd hate to think I am spending that kind of $$ on a placebo, but if it works, maybe I should just be grateful.

Answer
Hi Kris

You are right. This hard to spell remdedy is very much from homeopathy, and is widely used for colds and flu if caught in the early stages.

I haven't yet used it myself, as I've been fortunate to only have a few mild sniffles since I've learned about the remedy. All I can say from direct personal experience is that I tried to buy some the other day and it was sold out...so somebody out there is using it!

The clerk told me there is "one local family that buys a case of it every year"...I wonder if anyone would spend that much money on a placebo!

I have several friends that swear by it as well, and even though I don't have the book with me at the moment, I read in a homeopathic reference that in the 1917 flu epidemic, the people using homeopathic remedies had half the fatality rate of those using "modern" medicine...but keep in mind that was the 1917 version of modern medicine.

My impression of the remedy, even though I haven't used it myself, is that it is safe and effective. If you want more detail about Oscilloseconium you can check the internet...webmd will give you the mainstream perspective...or a search of homeopathy on any major search engine should help.

Of course the ultimate yardstick is how you feel. If you feel it is helpful, than that is the bottom line. YOU are the one that is doing the healing...the medicine is just helping that process along, no matter which system of medicine you choose. So to my way of thinking, even if it is placebo, so what? It is still facilitating your own natural healing processes, and that has value in itself in my opinion.

Thanks for such an interesting question!

Best wishes
Baihu
