who can not have reiki please could you tell me because im doing it in college for my diploma in health studies thanks a lot emma

Answer
Hi emma

Relax and enjoy your class...reiki is probably the safest health technique in the universe...here is why

The theory of reiki (as you may soon learn, if they are at all familiar with reiki...especially traditional usui as I study)...is that Reiki is totally self regulating

The energy is the univesal life force...the stuff that makes us alive rather than a pile of chemicals. The body is in and of itself very intelligent and self-regulating. Reiki respects and works WITH that innate intellegence. The body in essence takes the life force energy (ki in japanese)that is focused toward it in a reiki "treatment" and then applies that energy in whatever way it is most needed...mental, physical or spiritual. On example my first teacher gave of this was of a very skeptical man who would only let her touch / treat his tennis elbow. But after a time, his high blood pressure and feelings of job stress went away long before the tennis elbow cleared...the body knows what it needs, and uses reiki in a way that is safest and best for the individual.

The only precautions I can think of is that individuals who are on mainstream medications that are monitored by "blood levels"...things like theophylline, blood thinners etc...should tell their doctors before starting long term ongoing Reiki, though a treatment here and there shouldn't make a difference. It may impact how the body utilizes the medication and the medication levels may need checked after a series of regular treatments.

I also always advise my clients to get up slowly, and sit for a bit before standing after a treatment. That way no one gets dizzy. Most people are too relaxed and rested after a treatment to 'jump up and run' anyway.

Best wishes to you!
