Question
I had a thyroid problem that caused me a little depression...I am having problems in order to get some sleep...Any thoughts ??? Thanks

Answer
If you are on medications or supplements to treat your condition, it might take some time for your body to adjust to these before you see results.  If that is not the case, or it has been some time since starting anything new, you might want to check your adrenal health also.  They are important in regulating sleep and energy cycles.  The adrenal glands often need to be treated along with the thyroid for maximum effectiveness.
There are many natural treatments for sleep, including herbs like Valerian, Passiflower, Chamomile, and Catnip; homeopathics based on your paticular pattern of insomnia; and lifestyle measures like sleep hygiene.  If the insomnia is minor or infrequent, treating with natural medicines is fine; but if it continues, you should seek out a qualified practitioner who can help you get to the root of the problem.
