Alternative Medicine/UTI

Question
Hello!  I recently had a c-section delivery and I guess as a result, a urinary tract infection has developed.  My OB gave me a prescription for amoxiclav (amoxicillin & clavulanate), an antibiotic which I DO NOT want to take.  I had been taking cranberry supplements, and thought I was improving, but my Dr feels these will not be effective enough and that I need the anti. I am breastfeeding my daughter and do not want her to have the anti, either.  2 questions:  do you think I should continue the cranberry and not the antibiotic, or go ahead and take the anti to knock out the infection and prevent further complications?  If I do take the anti, do you know of anything else I can take to counter it besides yogurt and other probiotics?  Thank you and shalom,

Answer
Dear Mai,
I am not a physician and I do not believe in combining allopathic and naturopathic health care, so . . . I cannot advise you against a physician in which you have already placed your trust for your health and your child's, nor do I ever recommend prescriptions to anyone.  I am guessing that your OB is aware that you are breastfeeding.  If you are uncomfortable with your doctor's decisions, you need to sit down and speak with him/her.
Kind Regards,
