Do you believe westerns are chronically deficient in trace minerals?
What are your thoughts on the claims made in this report:

Answer -
Mr Smith,
I think that many people in the US are deficient in minerals, because of the depletion in our soils. I can't speak about other countries, as I don't know about their soil quality.
In order to maintain good health in spite of this, I recommend an organic whole foods diet and quality multinutrient supplements for most people. I do not know of any research that would back up the claims of that report, and I have not used those types of supplements before, so I cannot speak about their efficacy.
Thanks for your question.

AnswerMr Smith,
Not knowing your health status or other information, I can't recommend a particular product. But I can point you to some brands carried in health food stores, like Nature's Way, Natural Factors, Pioneer, Enzymatic Therapies, and New Chapter. These companies all have multivitamin/mineral blends that are good quality, absorbable, and reasonably priced. Most make several different formulations according to age, sex, health status, and number of times a day they are given. All of these factors would determine which one is best for you personally.
A whole foods organic diet is high in filtered or spring water, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats, and legumes; Low to moderate in meat, dairy products, caffeine, and alcohol; with minimal or no sugar, trans fats, fast foods, and processed foods.
Thanks for your question and good luck.
