Alternative Medicine/natural blood thinners vs. coumadin

Question
my 84yr. old mother recently had a pacemaker implanted and seems to be doing fine.  The problem seems to be her taking the medicine Coumadin.  She is very worried about the side effects we are now seeing even though she is being monitored by her MD.  She wants to go on a natural alternative to coumadin.  I am aware of the different possibilities such as Ginger, Tumeric, Omega 3 (EPA) but we do not know how much a person should take.  She wants to start lower her dosage of the Coumadin gradually but can you take the alternative things while taking Coumadin?  How does one begin?

Answer
Dear Jan Morgan,
I wanted to respond personally and did not want to just choose the box that says "this is out of my area of expertise;" but it is.  I very much understand your mother's concern with the side effects of synthetic medication.  She is under a doctor's care and frankly any alternative health practitioner could be liable and even pushing the law to get involved.  I do not deal with allopathic medication at all, only natural modalities with G~d's healing, and I am not a physician.  There are physicians who combine treatments, procedures, etc.  Please check with one of them before making any changes.  I'm sorry I could not be of more assistance.
Kind Regards,
Kindred
