Question
I purchased some P73 oil of oregano and I would like to know how much to take for sinus and how much for athletes feet and how much to take for stomach ulcers.  I have the kind you put under your tongue.

Answer
Dana,
Thanks for your question.  It's difficult for me to suggest a dosage without knowing more information.  I can tell you that oil of oregano is used to commonly treat sinus infections that may be fungal in origin (not all are, so I wouldn't assume that it will work unless you've been assessed with that condition).  And it commonly is used topically and internally to lower candida overgrowth in the GI tract, which can exhibit signs in the skin, GU tract, sinuses, as well as the GI tract.  It may be helpful to reduce the fungal infection on your feet; generally, though, the oil of oregano will work best if an anti-candida diet is also followed, and followed by a course of a probiotic like Lactobaccillus acidophilus.  The oil is not commmonly used for stomach ulcers.  Straight oil of oregano may irritate the stomach lining and other mucous membranes, so is often taken in enteric coated capsules, with a carrier substance.  Because it can be caustic, it is not recommended for long-term internal use, even in a capsule form.  This type of treatment is best done while working with a trained herbalist or naturopathic doctor.  To find a naturopathic doctor in your area, visit www.naturopathic.org.
Good luck in your search for natural health options.
