Alternative Medicine/oxycotin
Expert: Imran R. - 11/18/2006
QuestionI am taking oxycotin for back pain, but would rather live with the pain and get off the oxycotin. It is causing too much constipation. Is there a herb?
AnswerDear Ron,
Thank you for your question.
Oxycontin actually has a host of side effects. Pain killers do not address the cause of the actual pain, and therefore end up causing more of an imbalance in the body over years of use, even more pain or a new illness to deal with.
My mother suffers with degenerative disk/scoliosis and has suffered with this for over 40 years.
The only thing that brought her relief is the nutritional super-food below. I began taking the product myself to begin with, then got her onto 2 ounces per day. The result is about an 80% reduction in overall pain. Keep in mind her condition is severe. The nutrition contained in this product has addressed inflammation and swelling as well. You might give it a try.

The other thing is that you may want to get yourself a good firm mattress or look into memory foam. Go to a bedroom shop or mattress shop and try a firm mattress as compared to memory foam if available.
Feet problems (incorrect foot alignment) also cause back problems, (non-degenerative)
and you may look into some good insoles to help correct the alignment of your feet. Do some research on this, or see a well known chiropractor, one who has experience in foot mechanics. If you do not want to spend hundreds of dollars on insoles then you might try a simple pair of BirkoActive Birkenstock insoles, or Air Glides from tachyon products, online.
I have heard quite a bit about these two.
Dietary Advice:
Cut out all soy products except fermented soy. Miso, tempeh and soy sauce are healthy. [fermented]
Soy contains goitrogens, which depress thyroid functions. It also contains phytic acid, which hinders the body's ability to absorb proteins, calcium, magnesium, iron and zinc. In general, it is an enzyme inhibitor.
Do not drink milk. Pasteurized milk is quite harmful. Take only certified organic or raw milk.
Make sure you avoid all artificial sweeteners:
splenda, sucralose, aspartame, nutra-sweet, equal, acesulfame potassium.
Splenda/sucralose has become very popular these days and is just as bad, if not worse than aspartame. These sweeteners are all very toxic and are found in store bought vitamins, protein powders, anything sugar-free, gum, chocolate, soda... etc.
Please read labels carefully and cut out all artificial sweeteners. This is very important.
Both soy and artificial sweeteners weaken the immune system. The immune system is one of the main keys to healing any illness. Therefore, the more we can support immune related health the better.
Cut out all margarine and hydrogenated fats. Cut out canola, rapeseed and soybean oils.
These are very unhealthy. Replace with butter, ghee, unrefined coconut oil, sesame oil, and virgin olive oil.
7 glasses of water per day is a good idea to help flush out toxins from the body. Warm or room temperature water, never cold. Never drink tap water. It must be filtered. Avoid drinking distilled water. It leads to mineral depletion and hair loss.
Vaccines:
This is a subject that most do not pay enough attention to. The truth is that despite popular belief,
vaccines are actually harmful. This has now been proven by medical doctors and physicians.
It is an involved subject and too much to get into through this response, but you can do some research on Google:
"dangers of vaccinations". You can search for vaccine information at this site also: www.mercola.com
