Question
my ozzi is a 4yr old Pomeranian,7-8 pds.he seems fine,i did notice when he came in from going potty, he dragged his butt an did a circle.when he got up i noticed blood coming out of his butt.i went to carefully pick him up an he started to yelp loudly.i cant touch him,pick him up or really look at it.i'm always on top of my dogs.they are my life.i never seen this before,plus its Saturday nite.any ideas??can i put his butt (only) in a bath to get blood off an see if theres any impacted poop on him? sometimes his poop impacts on him.(maybe twice a year) please help

HI Katie
I would suggest a visit to the vet as it could be an anal gland infection.  In this case he would need antibiotics to keep any infections at bay.
If it is constipation you can try a sprinkle of Metamucil or similar fibre on his food, or try giving him some cows milk as this often brings on loose stools in dogs.  Careful with the fibre as if he is not drinking alot of water then this could clog him up even more.
You could also substitute his meals for the day with mashed banana and mashed/grated apple and sprinkle some fibre on top.
I would recommend a visit to the vet as it could be a serious blockage somewhere and that could be why he is not liking being touched.  This type of blockage can be fatal if not addressed asap.
