Question
QUESTION: My 6 year old German Shepherd, Phoenix, recently diagnosed with Pannus in
both eyes.  A topical antibiotic has helped the symptoms tone down in 2 weeks.
Vet says he needs to be on a topical steroid for life.  The ones he came up with
all have antibiotics in them too.  Are there any natural therapies I can do for
Phoenix?  Hid diet has consisted of "Cannidae" dry food with Natural Balance dog
sausage 2x/day, and some scraps from our table.  He also loves Sun Chlorella  (a
blue/green algae) - (5, 2x/day). He gets a fair amount of exercise, tho this
winter was long, he's back to running around again.  We are willing to work with
diet, etc.  Thank you already for considering this!  StarLight

ANSWER: Hello Starlight:  this is a very serious situation for your Phoenix... Follow your vet's steroid treatments.... it is just about your only safe options for Phoenix... Sorry, there are very few proven holistic / natural options for something like this.
The diet you have him on is excellent.
I would add NuVET vitamins/supplement - it is an Immune System booster...

Next, here is a link on this disorder called Pannus.... it explains your medical options.
You don't want Phoenix to go blind.... so be careful about any " all natural" treatments..  Vit E 200 IU s each day would be fine and helpful... But, follow your vet's medical advice.

BEST wishes to you two...

QUESTION: Dear Marie,  Thank you so much for your words!  I plan on using the steroids
on Phoenix's eyes, will get the vitamins and E.  He will look at them as treats.
Have you heard of using tea tree oil in the eyes?  I've read this in a vet's
column (Dr. Peter Gott) in a local paper.  One would dilute the oil in water or
even a mild baby shampoo.  I like the idea of keeping his immune system in
top shape too. Thank you again!!!  StarLight

Answer
Hi again:  Wow, I love tea tree oil for my cuts and areas that don't heal... so, it sounds like it may be something that can work... Just don't know much about using it in the eye...
Tea TREE oil is very, very strong and as you know if many times diluted...

Yes, get the Vitamin E... And the NuVET Plus is a MUST..  We guarantee your results or they will return your money.
NuVET Plus will cost about .55 cents per day for your Phoenix.

Here is the link - Order the 90 day bottle of NuVET Plus - Give it a good 90 day trial for Mr. Phoenix... It is an excellet Human-grade product and Immune System Booster..

http://www.nuvet.com/81098   ( pet pro code 81098 - get the 90 count of NuVET Plus and IF you go on auto ship you will get 15% off)

***** write back to me in 90 days, let us all know how Phoenix is doing with all the changes...

Thanks so much and BEST wishes
