Question
Help!  My little chihuahua (3.5 years old)was diagnosed with GME (Granulomatous Meningoencephalitis) yesterday.  She has gone from chasing squirrels and enjoying life to despondent and listless in 3 short days.  I know there are many natural remedies for humans when it comes to an autoimmune disease, so there has to be something for dogs.  She is on Dexamethasone and Atopica as of yesterday, but I want to boost and strengthen her immune system and at least stop if not reverse the damage done.  She's so young and this has happened over night.  She eats Harmony Farms organic chicken and vegetable food.  I've had to start giving her the soft version because she WANTS to eat, but it's hard for her.  Please, is there anything I can do for her or am I delaying the inevitable?

Answer
Kate:  Oh, poor little Chi.  GME is a disease that will take it's toll on your little one.  She could live another few years, with good care and attention.  This is a hard illness that has no cure.  We can only treat the symptoms as they advance.

Yes, building her immune system is a must.  We want her to have a great quality of life.  Again, ther is no cure for this.  I don't want to mislead you.

Here are a few ideas for her:

Give her some probiotic gel.  You can get it at any pet store.  Look for this brand if you can find it.  ( Bene Bac) - any Probiotic gel/ paste would be fine.  Give this to her every day.  Always....
Follow the directions for her weight.  This will help her appetite and give her belly some good bacterias.

Next, buy some NuVET Plus - this is a great Immune System Booster for dogs... YOU can by it only thru breeders, groomers and vet offices.
Buy from the Manufacturer and save over the vet office mark up.
NOT sold in stores... Use this order code / as they don't sell to the public with it.  81098

Buy the 60 count bottle of NuVET Plus - give your baby 1 per day. Most dogs of her weight would only need 1/2 but I feel she need the whole wafer treat.  You can break it up and place it into her wet food.  Also, NuVET does sell a powder form if you don't think she will eat the wafer.

Let me know how she is doing after a month or so.
Thanks for your question...
Good Luck
