Alternative Medicine for Pets/Cancer diet, mast cell tumor

Question
Hello... my dog has recently had a mast cell tumor, stage 2 removed.  The vet believes he got it all but is not sure.  I have decided that I am not going to make my dog sick by treating with steroids & chemotherapy.  She acts like a happy, healthy dog.  She is a 9 year old Australian shepherd, named Oreo... she is a blue merle.

I have instead decided that I am going to cook for her and give her supplements.  However, I am so overwhelmed... there is so much information out there and it is difficult to know what to follow.  At first I was planning on feeding a high quality kibble (blue buffalo) and top coating it with home cooked food and supplements.

But my dog picks around the kibble and won't eat it anyway... so I am thinking why waste money on this high quality on food that she doesn't eat, I'd be better off spending the money on supplements and food I can cook for her!

Could you please give me some advice on the above scenario?  Also could I please get a copy of the 'Canine Cancer Diet'?

Thank you so much,
Karin

Answer
Hi Karin - Good for you!  Yes, the canine cancer dog food diet is very healing.  It is great for dogs that don't have cancer, too.
YOUR OREO is very lucky to have you.

Here is a supplement to start with and the recipe:
Keep my name and e-mail if you need more help

Marie Peppers LPN MA ( of ask the Pet Nure )  mtnmom@gci.net

Supplements needed:
~NuVET supplememnt ( 2 wafers per day)
~Oil of Oregano  ( 1 teaspoon per day - CALL around to the health foods stores.
YOU will mix this into the food - daily.
~ ESTER C ,(1) of  500 mg per day and must be Ester C only- EASY on the belly

CANCER DIET for dogs:

The following home-made cancer diet can be given to any dog with cancer, and follows the "low carbs, high fat, moderate protein" principle.
It is important to understand that some additional supplementation (eg. high-quality multi- vitamin) is needed for complete nutrition. (* NuVET vitamins below)

1 cup cooked brown rice

2 eggs hard boiled

1 teaspoon Flax Oil

VEGGIES- ( you don't need to do veggies every day) - only if you dog loves them.

( make sure you grate them...food processor)
1 cup grated, lightly steamed or raw organic vegetables (carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, bok-choy, cabbage, tomatoes etc…)
Never any onions...

½ cup low-fat cottage cheese

½ cup cooked beef or fully cooked chicken or turkey  ** cook all meat thoroughly)
( lean or leaner Beef; white chicken; turkey )  Pick any one

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AMOUNT **** serving is for a 15-20 lb dog:
***This is enough food for a 15-20 lb pooch for one day (double the above amounts for a 30-40 lb pup; triple the amounts for a 50-60lb).
It should be fed in 2-4 servings at room temperature.
smaller sized meals help...
THIS IS SIMPLE TO MAKE - ALSO - YOU SHOULD ADD 1-2 TEASPOONS OF NUVET CANINE SUPPLEMENT POWDER TO THE DIET / JUST 1 DOSAGE PER DAY;  Or 1-2 Wafers per day:
I like to start out on a double dosage of NuVET for the first month.
VERY safe and Holistic:
NuVET can be purchased from a Holistic vet or the Manufacturer:
