Expert: NuVET & Marie Peppers LPN MA / Ask the Pet Nurse - 11/6/2009
Question Hello I wrote you before concering my french bulldog .I now have her on the probiotics and nu vets vitamins ... wellness core chicken / turkey formula for about the last 6 months she no longer has the loose stools but the shedding is out of control .... is she getting the nourishment that helps that issue with this food or do u recommend another food ... she had terrible skin issues watery eyes she was a mess that is all good just alot of shedding now ... what can i do ???
Answer
My French Bulldog is better on the NuVET and the Wellness Core dog food;
Frenchie on NuVET, Wellness Core, and Probiotics - Much better ....
GREAT to hear the good news -
Just have a little shedding problem to deal with-
Yes, I have some answers for that :
1. Add (1) of a 50 IU Vitamin E per day to the diet, long term - Hide in pill pocket or wet food.
2 Next - OH, how I love this shampoo with conditioning beads:
BUBBLES and Beads by Happy Tails ..
Call around to groomers and see if they sell this ???? ( any specialty shops sell this brand)
The cost is about 14.00 for a bottle.
Many places on the internet sell it on sale:
Do a search : Bubbles and Beads dog shampoo.....
YOU can use this 1 x per week - and then brush well.
This product will help to reduce shedding by conditioning the skin.
I just can't express how much I love this shampoo.
Last , YOU may want to give x-tra NuVET Supplement per day - to help with the excessive shedding.
Give a little x-tra ( 1/2 or 1 full wafer) per day, for the next 2 weeks.
Get the nice shampoo and the Vitamin E.
The Vitamin E is cat sized dosages....VERY safe.
Here is NuVET's number is you need more

If you want to try something else - add some cooked ground lamb to your Wellness food each day- or every-other-day, About 1/4 a cup of nice cooked lamb per day.
When you cook the lamb- cook on top of the stove with a little butter and some water.
( so add Pam spray to the pan- non stick spray - use a very small amount)
YOU can also add 1/4 cup per day of some Lean ground cooked hamburger.
You can add 1/2 to 1 full teaspoon of olive oil to the cooking process.
The olive oil is very good for the coat and dry skin.
Keep me posted
