QUESTION: My 5 month old boxer pup has her 2nd uti. I did alot of research before we got her and decided to put her on Wellness Core. She was doing wonderfully on it. My vet wants her on the antibiotics again for another 2 weeks and for me to switch her to Science Diet cd to change her ph balance, for at least 6 months. It's been a week and I think her coat looks duller and she's gaining weight and I've noticed her scratching/biting herself more already. Do you think her food really has anything to do with her recurring uti's or can I change her back to Wellness now? Thank you

I would like you to go the the WELLNESS Puppy food and Not the Core.  Core is fine if they are over 11 months of age.  So, Mix the Science Diet and the Wellness Puppy for 2 weeks and then go 100 % to the Wellness PUPPY.  

Also, add the following supplements :

1. cranberry pill per day / mix into food or hide in cheese

We can also do some home-cooking for this kid... ONCE she is 12 months of age - I have some recipes to try:  ( for dogs with uti troubles ....)
HOPE the NuVET and Cranberry will get rid of this problem.

Make sure you add some water to her dry food - for x-tra fluids...
Make sure she is drinking.... or give her some Gatoraide in the water dish.
Some Gatoraide is fine - to get them to drink.

QUESTION: Marie, Thank you for the quick response!! I mis-spoke...she WAS on Wellness puppy, not Core. I will be slowly switching her back starting today. Do you think I should wait until she is done with the antibiotics before starting the cranberry pills? Thank you again!!!!!!!

Ok, Glad she was on the puppy !  The cranberry and NuVET will be fine with anything your vet gives you.  So, you can start today on all the supplements.

You can also give her a vitamin C (250 mg) per day , if you wish.
Do this for about 60 days.
