I have adopted a rescue dog and am having difficulty in finding the right diet. His stools are always mushy regardless of any type of food I give him. Dry (Science Diet)or rice with cooked or raw meat and other good brands of dog food. Can you help please?  He is a very healthy dog otherwise.

Hi - Well, make sure this kid has no worms or parasites.... Otherwise, a good food will help - Look for a brand that has NO grain :

You can add some pure canned pumpkin to the diet.  Just 1-2 tablespoons per day will help to firm up the stools.
ADDS bulk to the stool.
