Our dog(a Lab, Age 6 ) Has what we think is a goiter on her neck, almost on her throut. Since we think it is a goiter we put tincture of iodine on one of her teats in the morning and checked it that night to see if it was an iodine difficency that caused it or if her thyroid was over producing. When we checked it the iodine had been absorbed. Do dogs ever get goiters? Does it sound like we are on the right track? What can we do for her?

Shanna, I am sorry but the thyroid glad should not enlarged unless it is a severe infection or even cancer.  Please get him to the vet right away for a blood test.  Hoping it is an infecton and your vet will give you some antibiotic.
