QuestionHi and thanks for your website!
I have four dogs (so far, I feel bad to turn away a stray they always look hungry) I have 1 American Bulldog, 1 English bulldog, 1 suppose to be English bulldog and 1 that looks like a golden retreiver. Anyway, we just moved to a new home in the country, most of the dogs were inside dogs but due to space they have moved outside (except for the English bulldog, she is to fat for the heat) They have never had ticks before and never an issue with fleas but now they are being bombarded with them and I don't know what to do! I know k9 advantage and frontline but this is way to expensive as each dog is over 40lbs. I hear lavender oil or apple cider vinegar baths can help and the feed store told me Permethrin was safe and would be great for the dogs and the yard. I was wondering do you have any tips for controlling fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes at a low cost. Oh! did I forget to tell you that my English Bulldog has red mange that she gets dipped for every two weeks. This seems to be helping her, when I got her she was in pretty bad shape. She had worms so bad they were falling out of her on their own, her foot was swollen and she was ate up due to infection. All that is about cleared up now with the Mitaban dips. By the way is there something I can use to bath her between dips that will not lessen the effect of the mitaban? I think that is about it. Thanks for your help!
Answer
Ok Nyvonnia - Wow, you have a heart for animals... Yes, I can help -
Wash them all in Dawn Dish Water soap - Just a small amount and suds them up - rinse and rinse well.
The DAWN will kill the fleas.
Next - You may need to Flea bomb the house - TAKE all pets, people and plant out of the house for at least 8 hrs...
When you come back - open the windows for at least an hour and then let the pets back into the house.
To kill fleas - I like good old CEDAR OIL, Orange oils or CRITTER OIl - PLUS a good supplement will help, too.
Here is a link to Critter oil:
Flea and Tic Care - A very safe and natural Product is called Critter OIL - ( you can also Google CEDARoil/ CEDARCIDE)
Great for pets, bedding and even your yard and carpet:

NuVET supplement should be used with a natural cedarcide ( cedar oil ) ** or critter oil - see links above.
NuVET daily - "OIL sprays" - used 3-6 x per week..
The oils are all natural and safe - and low cost, too...
As far as your BULLIE with Mange - I would place this kid on NuVET wafers - IT will help to boost the immune system that is being hurt by the poison dips... Mitaban dips work but it does WEAKEN the immune system of your baby....
Sorry....
NuVET may help to fight off the mange and heal the system.
Keep me posted...
