Question

Bullet.
My family and I just got an American Staffordshire Terrier about 3 weeks ago. He is about a year and half old. He has a problem with vomiting just about everyday. We have tried switching his food, but nothing seems to help. Sometime's, it is whole chunks of food, and sometime it isn't. Sometime's it is immediately after eating, and sometime's when he wake's up. He also does this coughing thing occasionally, in which is very loud and disturbing. We are very concerned, but we can't afford a vet.

Good looking dog!  That was nice of you to take in an Adult dog...
When you get the money please do see the vet - I am sure he needs a good check-up and some shots.
As for the vomiting and cough - YOU can raise up his feeding dishes to his armpit height.  Then, he will not take in too much air when eating.
Also, you should feed him 2 x per day-  If you are feeding dry dog food place about 1/8 of a cup of water into the food - let it sit 5 minutes and then serve to Bullet.

Also, before bed time offer him a dog treat or even some string cheese or 1/4 cup of cottage cheese....( a healthy and very small treat) - this will keep the stomach stable until the morning .....

Please remember to see the vet as soon as you can.
Good luck with Bullet.
