My cat has a lumbar subluxation that is getting worst even with chiropractic care. my vet prescribed 5mg. pred once daily for 2 weeks then 2.5mg remainder. "Leo" is 11 yrs old and 17.3 lbs. has always been lazy but very happy. i fear the prednisone however i want to do SOMETHING to alleviate his pain and discomfort also can you recommend a long term supplement for the "arthritis? Hi Catherine,  I understand why you would not want to use prednisone steroids long term!  ( VERY harsh drug)
