QuestionOur golden was just great other than his hind legs were not working great but his is a big boy. a week ago and I took him to a new vet (looking for good vet with more affordable prices and found him on Angies List). He put him on gluecosamine chews and Ramydil for the arthritis. within 24 hours of his first of those he started showing and scratching around his ear. By Sunday it was more than to his neck and had to put a cone on him. Monday a.m. was 1/2 way down his neck. I took him off those 2 items after the second dose. I don't know what has happened but my reg. vet said big staff and rods (major smell was coming with it). They gave him a steroid shot and antibiodicts. He now a day later does not want to eat his dry dog food or drink water. my vet said to feed him what he would eat. I made him scrambled eggs for lunch and did some sliced chicken and a hot dog tonight. would not eat his favorite carrots or berries. just lays here and am worried but he is fighting so much infection that is still oosing in places.... any suggestions to get liquids in him or anythig else?

Let me know if he likes the meatball recipe?
Or the Pedylite recipe will be helpful, too.
Hi Debbie - Oh boy! How about some Pedylite solution? ( the kind for human children) - get the berry falvored and place it in the water dish. You can do 1/4 water and 3/4 dish of Pedylite.
You can even make a few Pedylite ice cubes to place in the water dish.
Also, try this recipe - Dog Meatballs - Oh, YUM YUM and MOM cooks!
Dog Meatballs - can be used as a snack or as a meal -
YOU can use this as the Am meal or the PM meal..
DOG MEATBALLS-
Dog Dog Food Recipe by Michele, provided to her by her vet.
Ground chicken 1 lb
Ground beef 1 lb
4% small curd cottage cheese
2 cups quaker oats soaked in low sodium chicken broth
peas
string beans
2 tablespoons salmon or fish oil (health food store or break open capsules from grocery store)
2 eggs
2 boiled yams or sweet potatoes -this is great protein and helps keep everything moist.
Mix together and make into meatballs the size of your dogs portion.
Bake them at 350 until they are completely done.
Freeze into bags and warm up in microwave until warm and serve.
They should love it and it is all digested so there is very little waste and smell.
