Question
Hello,

Our 10 year old Shetland Sheepdog was diagnosed two weeks ago with CRF. We had her on IV fluids for 3 days then she went off suspecting she had Addison's disease. She did not and so went back on Fluids after her Cretin went up 400 for 4 days. She is much perkier and happy. Her blood work shows high cretin, high sodium and borderline potassium. She has only vomited up bile twice.

The problem is she will not drink enough water on her own and after loving the Hills K/d has now gone off of it but is still hungry for food.

We are currently feeding sushi rice, made only with filtered water, mixed with a bit of K/d and a tablespoon of ground beef only par cooked. She wolves this down...is it okay for her? She is 11kgs.

How do we get her to drink water?

We have taken her to a holistic vet who gave her acupuncture. This seems to have had a positive effect. She also put her on Tonic Yang...is this enough? Should she be on other vitamins too?

Sorry for the long questions, but we are so desperate...we love her so much and want to do all we can to keep her 25% function going strong.

Regards Natalia
