Alternative Medicine for Pets/Dia Earth flea treatment in feline with oxalate stones

Question
Hi: I have a question regarding whether or not it is safe to use diatomaceous earth as a flea treatment on a 13 year old girlcat that suffers from oxalate stones. I'm worried that one or more of the minerals in the d. earth will bind to the stone(s) already in her kidney.
I'm being very careful monitoring her diet and only giving her distilled water - I don't want to cause her stone problem to worsen, I can't find any info on this and my vet is no help.
Thanks in advance!

While I have your ear, any ideas on anything I can feed her to help pass the stones? She's on a canned-only urinary diet and she has a Drinkwell fountain that she loves to drink from. I can't afford surgery, and I can tell she's hurting. Thanks again -

Answer
Hi Wendy - the D.Earth has nothing in it that will hurt your elderly girl cat.
As far as the stones - they won't pass - sorry.  They need to be removed when you can afford it.
If you want to home cook- I have a good recipe for you to try.  So she won't get more of the stones.

Let me know???
