Question
My 10lb Yorkie has been bitten by the female fly that lays an egg and my Yorkie is the host until it develops.  It is annoying her and must be painful.  She is two, and last year also was bitten several times.  We took her to her vet and he removed the nasty thing.  Since then we have been able to remove several sucesfully.
She has one on her lower tummy.  I can't seem to get it to come to the opening so I can use the twizer to pull it out.
I got some of the mucus sack I think, but not the worm.
What do you think of putting polish on the opening and then using a strong tape to cover and pull it out? Is there anything else I can do to prevent them from biting her.  I also have mixed a 2 to one Listerine and water spray that I spray her with before she goes out.  This is the only one I can still find on her.  Please help.  Thanks so much  Jeanine

Answer
Naural flea and tic powder ; Baking soda bath for dogs ;
Hi Jeanie , Your poor dog!  HOW awful with the fly bites... YUCK.
Yes - try some neosporin on the area and a piece of tape to pull.  Also, a bath in baking soda is helpful and may pull out the sac and worm.  I would do a baking soda bath daily for a few days.
*fill the tub just 1/4 with warm water and add 1/2 cup of Pure baking soda... place cups of this mixture over his back and belly for 5 minutes.  Then, rinse off with clear warm water.

Next - Your dog's immune system is low and that is why they are after your Yorkie.
Please place this baby onto this supplement - it helps to keep the Bugs away and is an Immune System booster.
NuVET plus - powder or wafer / MOST little dogs like the 1/2 teaspoon of powder mixed into some wet dog food or cottage cheese...

Also, PLEASE put D.E. organic powder on your dog / must be the Organic human grade D.E.-
Place this on him daily - VERY safe and All Natural / LOW cost too.
NO more listerine - this works much better.

the  Diatomaceous earth (DE) works, and it's non-toxic not only to your dogs, but birds and other animals that pass through your back yard.
About D. Earth:

Diatomaceous earth is a naturally occurring substances made up of crushed fossils of freshwater organisms or marine life. Insects like the fleas have a waxy coat which helps to prevent water loss through the body surface. What the diatomaceous earth does is that it slices through the coat of the fleas and as such causing dehydration and eventually causes death of the fleas, larvae and eggs.

DE is inactive in presence of water, it's more suited for use on dry walks, dry decks, dry patios, dry lawns. Outdoor flea treatment should focus on areas where your pets rest, sleep, and runs, such as doghouse and kennel areas, under decks, along fences and next to the foundation.  Use natural grade rather than pool grade diatomacious earth.  Natural Grade for pets.........
It is seldom necessary to treat the entire yard or open areas exposed to full sun. Simply sprinkle the Diatomaceous (DE) powder onto these areas.

If it rains, you will need to re-apply the D. Earth to your yard.

You can also use D.E. on your pets/ just avoid the face/ eyes...
NON toxic and very safe...
I order from here- but you can call an Organic gardening store in your area:
