Alternative Medicine for Pets/Cat Abscess

Question
My one year old male cat has an abscess, probably from his brother biting him. From the first time I noticed it (about 2 weeks ago) he has acted completed normal -- eating, drinking, playing, etc. -- and it doesn't seem to hurt him to touch it. I took him to the vet a week ago -- they said there was pus in it and gave me 10 days antibiotics -- we are down to our last day of medicine -- the abscess has decreased in size but is still there -- the vet recommends me returning to the clinic and possibly having it drained -- which could cost me up to $200 -- I am a single mom and do not have the funds -- however, obviously I want my cat to be ok! I have read that Witch Hazel is good for abscesses so starting from last night I have applied that to it. I made a tentative appointment with the vet for the end of the week. My question is, do you think that this will go away on it's own? And with him acting normally and having the full course of medication, is he out of danger? Also, is the Witch Hazel a good idea? I realize that you cannot tell me for certain if he will be ok but any help or suggestions you could provide would be useful -- thanks so much!!

Answer
Sure, I understand.  Try cleaning with Witch Hazel 2 x per day. Also, go to the health store and get some Silver gel --  Tell them you need Silver Gel or Silver liquid -  Place a dab of the Silver Solution on the area 1 x per day for 30 days.  ( This is not a drug but a natural solution)
If you see the area getting larger, please call your Vet ASAP.
Remember, I am not a Vet.

HOPE this helps.

Best of luck to you
