Alternative Medicine for Pets/how much to feed?

Question

Cookie, Lhasa - Mimi,
Dear Marie, thank you so much for all the info regarding fruits and vegetables that I can add to the homemade low-protein canine recipe (rice, bread, chopped eggs, hamburger, calcium carb).   It is so appreciated.   I have one final question.   I thought I read to feed 1/4 lb. to a 6-lb. dog, 1/2 lb. to a 13-lb. dog, etc.   Is this once per day only?  I usually feed my dogs AM and PM due to giving meds, etc.  I also love alternating with Life's Abundance canned food over rice a couple days per week.   Oh, sorry, another question - is white Min. rice okay or is brown better?    Thank you again so much for all your help.   Karen

Answer
Oh - I forgot to Thank you for the Cute photos !!!  So sweet

Hello again, For feeding amounts, nothing is in Stone.  Just work with your pets and see how they do.  I would feed the 6 pound dog 1/2 a cup of food 2 x per day .
Don't forget to give  a good afternoon snack.
Veggies can be fed in x-tra amounts at snack time if needed to balance out any hunger.
Fruits can also be offered in the afternoon if you need a little x-tra.

For the 13 pound dog,  you need to do 3/4 cup in the am and 1 cup in the pm.
You can do 1 full cup in the am if needed and 1 full cup in the pm.  ( work with it)

WE are talking the "cooked fresh" food -
When you feed the Life's Abundance dog food plese follow the back of the bag -  The Dry kibble bag will give you a recommended amount.

White rice is fine -  Get the rice that takes 20 to 30 minutes to simmer.
Brown is ok but white will be better for your pets.
