Alternative Medicine for Pets/Keep pets away from duck nest

Question
We live on a lake, and a mallard duck has built a nest (with at least 9 eggs!) on our land next to the water. It's under a large brush pile.  A neighbor's dog has already chased the mother duck once when she flew into the water (with me following, yelling at the dog to leave it alone!#, and I'm afraid it will eat the baby ducks when they hatch. I don't know which neighbor the dog and its sister belong to.  They just visit all the homes for treats, and are older, good-natured Labs, ready to jump in the water at a moment's notice.  I'd read that cayenne pepper would discourage cats and dogs #I've seen a cat around our house lately), but birds and ducks don't have a problem with it.  One drawback is that it would have to be reapplied every time it rained.  Do you have any other ideas about what could be used, without resorting to a chemical solution that would be harmful to the pets or the ducks?

Answer
HI Patsy!  Wow, I see your problem.  Anything "pet safe" will need to be re-applied...
See this article on Safe Repellents for pets;
HOPE this helps!!!  I wonder if the LEMON mix will work - Just Apply every 2-3 days with a spray hose or bottle???
HOPE this helps?
Sorry, just so many unsafe prducts for this kind of problem.
I hope they stay safe....  I can see you running after the dogs!

Lemon Juice Spritzing:
( This was in regards to Christmas tree and a dog)

**Mix pure lemon juice in water, and spritzing the areas where you don't want your dog to bite or chew.  Since it is the Christmas Tree lights make sure they are off for 30 minutes before you turn them on.   I hope your dog does not like the smell and taste.  Make sure you use a good amount of lemon juice mixed with water 3:1 mix  ( water to lemon)
This gentle and natural homemade dog repellent seems to work well with many dogs.

Cayenne Pepper Dog Repellent

Cayenne pepper is another choice for repellent.
Capsaicum in cayenne pepper very irritating to skin, eyes, nose.

Most of the time you sprinkle this around an area.

BEST wishes on this!!!!
